AI Man
While I was having dinner, this young punk loudly and shallowly explained how AI worked to what seemed to be his grandparents, who sat across from him.
Why do you even bother, man? You got a better chance at getting your cat to master the Sicilian defense and beat you at chess. He spoke loud enough to ensure that people seated at adjacent tables heard his conversation.
He referred to AI as him. Yes, of course, it’s a male. And he said that “he,” the AI, is a collective intelligence that puts individual genius to shame.
While he wasn’t entirely wrong, the conversation was painfully rudimentary, almost akin to someone talking about how the virus spreads at the height of COVID-19, a topic that had been rehashed time and time again. Yes, Sam, we know it’s airborne, the same way that we know that AIs are trained on large datasets.
